However, reforestation is not just about planting trees; it also involves watering them, especially during their first years of life, protecting them from pests and frost, and doing everything necessary for them to become mature trees. <\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, other <strong>advantages of tree planting<\/strong>, in addition to fighting climate change, include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere<\/li>\n<li>Oxygen production<\/li>\n<li>Air purification<\/li>\n<li>Lowering soil temperature<\/li>\n<li>Helping to keep rivers clean<\/li>\n<li>Reducing the greenhouse effect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;greenhouse effect&#8221; is the phenomenon by which part of the heat energy emitted by the Earth&#8217;s crust is retained and reflected by certain gases in the atmosphere, preventing the progressive cooling of the Earth. Without the action of these gases, life as we know it would not be possible, as the heat emitted by the planet would dissipate into space, resulting in extremely low temperatures on Earth. These gases include carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane, which are mostly released by industry, agriculture, livestock farming, and the combustion of fossil fuels.  <\/p>\n<p>The industrial development achieved on our planet has meant that the concentration of these gases has increased by up to 30% since the last century, causing nature itself to be limited when it comes to balancing the concentrations of these gases in the atmosphere. Of all these gases, CO2 is particularly relevant due to its effect on the planet&#8217;s climatic conditions because it is a long-lasting gas; that is, it remains active in the atmosphere for a long time. For example, of the CO2 emitted into the atmosphere, about 50% will take 30 years to disappear, 30% will remain for several centuries, and the remaining 20% will last for several thousand years.  <\/p>\n<p>Carbon dioxide fulfills a function in plants that is essential for their growth and survival. This leads us to infer that planting trees can help save the planet from the consequences of climate change. <\/p>\n<p>Between 2017 and 2020, <strong>Gorfactory<\/strong> has planted 16,000 trees in the Region of Murcia. And for this year, 2021, we have set a goal to plant 47,000 trees (including native and fruit-bearing species). <\/p>\n<p>Although their carbon absorption capacity can vary, it is estimated that 6 mature trees store 1 ton of CO2 per year.
